    Full disclosure: I opened the top (it wasn’t sealed or anything) and gave them a sniff. They basically smell like wax but I did detect a hint of other scent. I think the scent comes out stronger when you actually color with them.
    Update: I decided to keep a pack and try them out. They do indeed smell when you color with them!
