    Unispace III - United Nations 1999 FDC - New York Cancel
    United Nations Commemorative Cachet & FDC Cancels
    PERFECT CONDITION FDC for Your Collection!
    These original FDC features two separate cachets with stamps cancelled first day July 7, 1999. The first cover features a 33 cent US space stamp with a lunar rover canceled at the United Nations post office in New York. This cover contains the top selvage from the stamp sheet. The second cover features the same stamp with the bottom selvage from the stamp pane. Together this FDC set forms an impressive display. The theme of these stamps is “International Interplanetary Exploration.”
    Stamps and souvenir sheets were issued to commemorate the Third Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, or Unispace III.  The theme of the Unispace III stamps is: “Space Benefits for Humanity in the Twenty-First Century.” A stamp and souvenir sheet  were issued from each of the U.N.’s headquarters.
