There is no substitute for genuine rawhide "raw hide" lamp shades for southwestern lamps, antler lamps, wall sconces, chandeliers and home lighting if you need rustic lamp shades. Indian drum desk lamps, and Indian pottery table lamps or wrought iron lamps with rawhide lampshades are perfect for western decor. Our southwestern rawhide shades for rustic lighting compliment cottage lodge style, rustic chic and rustic furniture.
Rawhide rustic lamp shades are made by hand with old world craftsmanship. This southwestern lamp shade laced with rawhide leather is a superior upscale lampshade, just right for your favorite western lamps or rustic lighting fixture. The translucent character of leather lamp shades made with rawhide allows a lamp to emanate from within the shade to create a natural atmosphere. Rawhide lampshades are perfect for a log home or cabin as well as country, ranch or rustic decor. Stretched rawhide lamp shades are works of art that will make a dramatic affect on your room, southwest furnishings or decor
Conditioning & LED Bulbs Prolong Shade Life
Rawhide expands and contracts with heat and humidity. When humid it loosens and when dry it tightens. Heat/dryness will cause the hide to tighten until it finally tears. For this reason there is no guarantee how long a shade will last.
High wattage bulbs, direct sunlight, extended use, placement near a heat duct or not conditioning the hide frequently enough causes drying.
We recommend neatsfoot oil for regular conditioning.  February seems to be the worst month for splitting because furnaces are running, drying the air. Air conditioning also dries the air causing the same result as heat.
Regular conditioning and LED bulbs are the most important tips to prolong shade life.
