The New 7 Wonders Foundation conducted a poll to select seven new wonders of the world. On July 7, 2007, out of 200 candidates and more than 100 million votes, the results were announced at a ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal. This colorized .925 fine Silver coin, which comes in the original capsule with a certificate of authenticity, represents one of those winners, Chichen Itza.
Chichen Itza was a large pre-Columbian city built by the Maya civilization. The archaeological site is located in the municipality of Tinum, in the Mexican state of Yucatan. Chichen Itza was one of the largest Mayan cities and was likely to have been one of the mythical great cities. It is one of the most visited archaeological sites in Mexico.
