2004 YEAR OF MONKEY NEW TAIWAN DOLLAR PROOF SET w/ PURE SILVER MEDALMinted by the Central Mint of China.
Contains 1 silver medal and 6 proof-coins set within glass and wood frame, so both sides of the coins are visible. The frame is fastened into a gold-coloured cover, which has a white card slip-cover. Medal: on one side a mother monkey nurses her baby while sitting on a peach-tree branch (Year of the Monkey; peach as symbol of long-life); on the other side is a god of fortune unfurling a scroll welcoming in the New Year and good fortune, while three children light a firecracker.
The coins are: NT$ 50, NT$ 20, NT$ 10, NT$ 5, NT$ 1, 50 cents.
NT$ 50 coin: portrait of Sun Yat-sen.
NT$ 20 coin: portrait of Mona Rudao; traditional canoes used by the Yami tribe.
